The University of Memphis commonly referred to us U of M is a public research university; it is well placed in the normal station neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. It was founded in 1912; it has a large enrolment of over 22,000 students.  It is the flagship institution of the Tennessee board of Regents System. It has a number of different colleges. It is a large and respected institution that is well manage and produces quality graduates.  It is a place every student should dream of going.

Memphis University MHA program is designed to provide a high quality educational experience that will, through both on-campus and executive tracks, help students get ready to take up positions in the healthcare field.Through strong cooperation with health care community groups, linked with innovative class room and blended learning methods, the University of Memphis is able to provide its students with real world healthcare management practice and immersion experiences.

The program’s student leadership and professional skills development program in both tracks enhances students’ attaining program competencies, this gives the students a chance to transition more effectively into entry level positions or promotion and advancement in healthcare management. It has an engaged scholarship model that mirrors the University Of Memphis and the school of public health approaches as it provides an avenue for the university’s faculty to work together with community partners, this is so as to generate and translate knowledge through applied research activities.

Admissions to the program are based on selection from a pool of applicants. The applicants must meet a minimum undergraduate GPA and aptitude scores. All those wishing to apply are required to submit scores for the Graduates Records Examination, or GMAT, unless pardoned by the University of Memphis graduate school and the MHA faculty. A student may be required to complete some undergraduate course work prior to the admissions, graduate credits is not allowed for courses needed to fulfill this requirement.

The following areas are given a lot of consideration during the admission process:

  • Undergraduate point average GPA on a four-point scale from an accredited college or university.
  • GRE or GMAT final score.
  • At least two letters of recommendations.
  • A written statement from the applicant (400-500 words) of interest and career goals.
  • Resumes which has education and experience included.

The MHA degree gives the student the knowledge and experience necessary for them to serve efficiently in the field of healthcare. The curriculum covers areas such as health systems administration, managerial and epidemiology leadership and ethics.
